The Enhance Iowa Board has awarded a $1 million Community Attraction and Tourism grant to transform two city parks in Waterloo. The Transforming Gates and Byrnes Parks Project has a total project cost of $16.9 million and includes various improvements at the parks. Gates Park will have a splash pad, inclusion park, amphitheater, lighted basketball courts and a roller-skating track. Byrnes Park will feature a new aquatic center with a slide tower, 25-yard lap pool, zero-depth entry play area, bathhouse and mechanical building.
